In mid summer, I had a Canal Zone collector over my house for a few hours and we were looking at his Canal Zone postal history collection that
he had just purchased through auction. I also showed him all of my Canal Zone Scott C33 material including my essay, plate blocks, full panes,
First Day Covers and also the postal history. As we went through, I realized that I had about 20 (turns out I have exactly 20) commercial covers
with Canal Zone Scott C33. I did not see any interesting destinations or auxiliary markings but I decided to organize the covers so I could see
what I have. The best way for me to do that is to put them in a table so I decided to write this. After I scanned and organized the covers, I
realized that I only have two rates
- August 1st, 1958 to January 6th, 1963 - 7¢ per oz
- January 7th, 1963 to January 6th, 1968 - 8¢ per oz.
As you'll see from the three tables, I also have 3 covers overpaying the later 8¢ rate by 1/2¢.
