Miasma - this issue is pretty late. I had a few of the articles written a few months ago but I was waiting on myself to finish up some more. Some months are very busy. I am thinking of 'publishing' on a different schedule. When an article is ready, I may just publish the article and link to it on the articles page. Every three months, I could send an email with the links to the artcles written in the previous three months. Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated.
APS StampShow: Pittsburgh, August 6th to 9th It was a great show! ... There are some great pictures from the show on Facebook: American Philatelic Society's Photos - StampShow 2009, Aug 6-9. I bought some new items and went to some great meetings. There was also a U.N. first day ceremony including one for "Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases". There is an short article with the list of Nirlay Kundu FDCs that were produced.
StampExpo 400: Albany, September 25th to 27th It was a great show! The website for the show has gone away as it was a one time show. Once again, there was another malaria stamp from the United Nations. This stamp was part of a souvenir sheet (actually 3 as each United Nations Postal Office issued a souvenir sheet) for the Millennium Development Goals. The stamps are available on the UNPA website. Nirlay Kundu and others produced FDCs for this issue and I will have a full article in the next Miasma.
Exhibits Update: If anyone is working on an exhibit or thinking about working on an exhibit, please contact me at malariastamps@yahoo.com and I may be able to answer some questions or may be able to connect you with someone at the American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors (AAPE). The APPE website is at AAPE if you are looking for more information on exhibiting. There is a lot of information up on the site along with over sixty exhibits online to view and get ideas from on how to set one up.
Always Looking for Articles: Please consider writing an article about some part of your malaria collection or how you got started collecting malaria or about a doctor in the malaria field that can have supporting stamps with it, or new varieties that you have found, etc. All I need is the text and some images and I can put together the web page. A text file, MS Word file, and many other formats will work. If you have an exhibit that has interesting malaria items in it, please send scans of the exhibit pages and I can add them to the site.
