Special Edition Miasma - Donald R. Johnson
In late November of 2018, I was contacted by Lee Johnson who inherited his father's collection of malaria stamps. He was wondering if I still collected and I certainly replied with a yes. His father was Donald R. Johnson who held many titles in the malaria field including the Assistant (and Acting) Chief of the Malaria Eradication Branch. Lee sent me a good size box with stamps, FDCs, publicity photos, WHO documents, letters, notes, covers addressed to Donald R. Johnson, newspaper clippings, and other malaria related stuff. A lot of the items have "historical value" and I am glad that I had an opportunity to purchase a lot of the items to use for Miasma articles and stamp exhibits and most importantly; to scan everything in order to save the history of Donald's part in "The World United Against Malaria" campaign. Many of you should know that Donald R Johnson wrote the "Malaria Eradication And Postage Stamps", Mosquito News Vol. 21, No. 2, June 1961

Auction 16
This issue's Auction 16 will consist of items from the collection of Donald R. Johnson (sent to me through Lee Johnson) which I did not purchase. All of the proceeds from the auction and the items I already purchased will be donated to The Against Malaria Foundation. There are some hard to find FDCs and other items in the auction. Good luck bidding.

Always Looking for Articles: Please consider writing an article about some part of your malaria collection, or how you got started collecting malaria stamps, or about a doctor in the malaria field that can have supporting stamps with it, or new varieties that you have found, etc. All I need is the text and some images and I can put together the web page. A text file, MS Word file, and many other formats will work. If you have an exhibit that has interesting malaria items in it, please send scans of the exhibit pages and I can add them to the site.
